You were always introducing me to new-to-me photographers. You knew I would love Gueorgui Pinkhassov, couldn’t believe I didn’t already know Martin Parr. You knew I was a Chris Maggio fan from that glitter factory article, which we sent each other the day it came out and read on our lunch breaks. I loved that article. I wanted everything I made to be as unyieldingly bedazzled. I loved glitter and diamonds and gold and disco balls and the manipulation of sparkle, the universal draw to clean fresh water on a sunny day, being toyed with.
